Fellowship Education and Supervision
Our highly specialized educational program in Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry consists of weekly educational modules and case conferences led by core and adjunct teaching faculty. A few of the represented topics include:
Demoralization and grief; pharmacological management of delirium; steroid-induced psychopathology
Limbic and frontal networking; neuroimaging and neurophysiological studies; seizures and psychopathology
Cardiac disease (e.g., ventricular assist devices); HIV (e.g., opportunistic infections of the CNS); burn-associated psychiatric care
Models of integration in primary care settings; collaborating with specialty services; business models for psychiatric care
Perinatal mood, anxiety, and bipolar disorders; paternal postnatal depression; brief motivational interventions
Fatigue and physician wellness; academic career trajectories; public speaking and presentation skills
Attended by faculty and trainees, and includes quarterly Grand Rounds, in-service trainings, and Psychosomatic Medicine Interest Group (PMIG).
In addition, fellows participate in weekly meetings with the program director and core faculty to discuss: scientific publications, personal career development, quality improvement and scholarly opportunities, and to receive and provide feedback.
Research and Scholarly Activities
Our fellows pursue an array of research and scholarly opportunities including: educational program development, quality improvement initiatives, clinical research projects, and preparation of manuscripts and presentations. Our institution is home to enthusiastic mentors and some of the most renowned researchers in the country, including Drs. Andrea DiMartini, Bruce Rollman, and Matthew Muldoon.
Faculty, residents, and alumni of the fellowship program have disseminated their work through peer-reviewed publications, as well as presentations at national meetings and scientific conferences sponsored by the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association, Association of Academic Psychiatry, and other professional organizations. We are proud of our many fellows who have been selected for travel awards to support their participation at these meetings.
