The Department of Psychiatry Welcomes Elizabeth McGuier, PhD, to the Faculty

We are pleased to announce that Elizabeth McGuier, PhD, has joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry.

Dr. McGuier earned her PhD in clinical psychology from Penn State University, and completed her psychology internship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She then came to Pittsburgh to undertake a National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences clinical and translational science postdoctoral fellowship under the mentorship of David Kolko, PhD (Professor of Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Psychology, and Clinical and Translational Science).

A child clinical psychologist, Dr. McGuier is interested in improving access to quality behavioral health care for vulnerable children, particularly those who experience maltreatment and those in rural areas. She is principal investigator of a National Institute of Mental Health K23 career development award, “Improving access to mental health services for rural youth: Leveraging multidisciplinary teams to enhance implementation of a screening and referral protocol in rural Child Advocacy Center.”
