Psychiatry Resident News: Ali McCathern, MD, Recognized Regionally and Nationally

Congratulations to Alexis McCathern, MD (PGY5 child & adolescent psychiatry fellow; chief resident of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship), who has been recently recognized by the University of Pittsburgh/UPMC, as well as by the American Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).
Dr. McCathern has been selected as a recipient of the AACAP Educational Outreach Program (EOP) for child and adolescent psychiatry residents. The EOP provides the opportunity for child and adolescent psychiatry residents to attend the AACAP Annual meeting and learn about research opportunities, meet potential mentors, and engage in additional networking opportunities. Dr. McCathern's presentation is entitled "Just What the Partial Hospital Program Needed: An Educational Curriculum for Youth Promoting Safe and Mindful Social Media Use."
In addition, Dr. McCathern has been accepted into the 2025-2026 Pitt-UPMC Senior Resident and Fellow Leadership Academy. The Academy is a physician leadership development program for senior residents/fellows who have demonstrated exceptional promise as future leaders in medicine, as evidenced by past and current leadership roles and accomplishments.
