Pitt Year of Diversity

The Department of Psychiatry, in partnership with the UPMC Center for Engagement and Inclusion and the University of Pittsburgh, will welcome Dr. Lisa Diamond to Pittsburgh on April 12, 2017 as part of Pitt's Year of Diversity celebration.  

Dr. Diamond is Professor of Psychology and Gender Studies at the University of Utah, and an expert on the nature and development of affectional bonds and same-sex sexuality. Her research combines her interests in the psychological and biobehavioral processes underlying intimate relationships and their influence on emotional experience and functioning over the life course.

In addition to meeting with researchers, clinicians and trainees, Dr. Diamond will present two lectures during her visit.

The first lecture, Working with Sexual and Gender Diversity: Clinical Implications from Current Research, will take place at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC in Oakland at noon on April 12th in Room 413 A/B.  This lecture will be of particular interest to clinicians and other health care professionals. Later that evening, Dr. Diamond will give a special presentation, "The Trouble with 'Born That Way' : The Role of Science in Debates about LGBT Rights,
