Patrick Buckley, MD, MBA (Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellow) Honored by the American College of Medical Quality

Congratulations to Patrick Buckley, MD, MBA (consultation-liaison psychiatry fellow), who has been named an American College of Medical Quality (ACMQ) Quality Scholar for his project, “Patient safety and quality improvement resident representative: A peer-led approach to increase residents’ knowledge and comfort with root cause analysis.” 

In addition, Dr. Buckley received an ACMQ 2022 Abstract Award for “Identifying & addressing barriers to effective outpatient mental health referral for medical inpatients.”

Dr. Buckley joined UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry for psychiatry residency training in 2018. He has previously served as Chief Resident for Education, and is currently Chief Resident of Fellows. 

“Dr. Buckley has expertise in the area of quality improvement, patient safety, and systems of care,” said Priya Gopalan, MD (Medical Director, Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service and Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology). “He obtained a master’s in business administration during his medical training, and has a keen interest in population-based health care. Our department is fortunate that he chose to stay with us for his fellowship and that he will be a faculty colleague in the years to come! This award only confirms his well-known excellence, and I am excited to see his career grow and develop!”
