We hope you will join us on April 22, 2022 when we welcome Argyris Stringaris, MD, PhD, FRCPsych as part of our Distinguished Scientist Lecture series.

Dr. Stringaris recently began his appointment as Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the Departments of Psychiatry and Clinical, Educational & Health Psychology at the University College London (UCL). He previously served as a Senior Investigator and Chief of the Section of Clinical and Computational Psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health. He studies mood and what leads people to depression. Dr. Stringaris is a child & adolescent psychiatrist trained at the Maudsley Hospital in the United Kingdom. He earned his PhD at the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London. His current research interests focus on the definition of core terms in psychiatry, particularly that of mood and emotion and that of distinctions between positive and negative valences; the boundaries to normality of psychiatric conditions, especially that of depression; the mechanisms of maintenance of negative moods. Dr. Stringaris has been recognized for his work on mood disorders with numerous honors including awards from the Klingenstein Foundation, the European Psychiatric Association, as well as the Klerman Prize by the DBSA.
