The University of Pittsburgh Autism Center of Excellence will sponsor a special webinar on April 28, 2023 from 12:00-1:30pm focusing on suicidality in neurodiverse communities of color. This webinar, coordinated by researchers, self-advocates, parents, and clinical experts in autism, crisis support, and suicide, will blend learned and lived expertise, cultural considerations, and neurodiversity to examine suicidality through an intersectional lens.

Who Should Attend. Autistic and/or neurodivergent adults; families; friends; health professionals; researchers; and educators.

Learning Objectives: After attending this round table webinar, participants will:

  1. Appreciate the state of the science and lived experiences of suicidality in autistic people of color

  2. Think critically about how being neurodiverse and twice marginalized (for example, both autistic and Black) may impact the development and recognition of suicidality

  3. Identify areas of need to improve understanding of and support for suicidality in autistic people of color

  4. Be able to identify some resources to support autistic people experiencing suicidality
