REACH Health Equity Seminar

Paula Powe, MD Assistant Professor of Psychiatry
Heather Joseph, DO Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics

We are excited to announce the details of the next Research Equity and Community Health Collaborative's (REACH's) Health Equity Seminar which will take place January 20, 2022 from 11:00am-12:00pm

REACH invites investigators of all career stages and health equity research experience to participate in our ongoing monthly seminar. The first half of each seminar will be spent discussing: 1) newly published or seminal articles related to determinants of health inequities or 2) Important topics such as “ways to reduce bias in your scientific method” and “how can we change systems through our research.” The second half of each seminar will showcase research being conducted within our department to grow collaborations, generate innovative ideas, and provide constructive feedback to support the professional growth of the presenter.

Join us for this seminar and discuss an article on conducting community engaged research (Han et al., 2021: Journal: Research Involvement and Engagement). Please read this article ahead of the meeting. If you have problems accessing it online, please contact Dr. Sarah Pedersen at pedersensl@upmc.edu.

Drs. Paula Powe and Heather Joseph will then present on their newly funded project that aims to employ a community-informed approach to improve perinatal and infant mental and physical health among Black women and families in Pittsburgh, PA.

Register in advance to attend this Zoom seminar. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

If you have questions regarding the seminar, please contact Dr. Pedersen at pedersensl@upmc.edu.
