Drs. Amin, Chapa, Franke, Moschenross, and Pierri Honored with UPMC Physician Excellence Awards
We are delighted to announce that Priyanka Amin, MD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry), Claudia Chapa, MD (Medical Director, Behavioral Health, UPMC Northwest), Caroline Franke, MD (PGY3), Darcy Moschenross, MD, PhD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry), and Joseph Pierri, MD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry), were honored at the 2022 Dr. Loren Roth Quality and Patient Safety Awards Celebration.
Dr. Amin and Dr. Chapa received UPMC New Physician Excellence in Clinical Care awards, which recognize physicians within the first three years of clinical practice who has made exceptional contributions to clinical work and patient care at UPMC.
Dr. Amin is an attending psychiatrist at the UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital Psychiatric Emergency Services department, and is medical director of Patient Safety at UPMC Western Behavioral Health.
Dr. Chapa is a board-certified psychiatrist and leads the Behavioral Health Unit at UPMC Northwest. Dr. Chapa is an expert in the treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Dr. Franke is a third-year general psychiatry resident at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. She received a UPMC Medical Education 2022 Oral Presentation award for “Patient Safety & Quality Improvement Resident Representative: A Peer-led Approach to Increase Residents’ Knowledge and Comfort with Root Cause Analysis.”
Dr. Moschenross received a UPMC Early- to Mid-Career Physician Excellence in Clinical Care award, which recognizes physicians with four to ten years of clinical practice. She is medical director of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatric Service at UPMC Presbyterian and Montefiore Hospitals.
Dr. Pierri is an attending psychiatrist at the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, and received an Excellence in Patient Experience Award. His patients have rated him as a Top UPMC Physician by Specialty in the Outpatient Behavioral Health Provider Domain for Psychiatry, and he has received numerous positive comments reflecting his outstanding care, including, “I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Pierri. He has literally changed our lives for the better.”
