Dr. Ellen Frank Awarded Sarnat Prize

Institute of Medicine Presents Dr. Ellen Frank with 2011 Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health


The Institute of Medicine (IOM) has named Ellen Frank, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Professor of Psychology, as a recipient of the 2011 Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health for her achievements in enhancing treatment and understanding of mood disorders. 

Dr. Frank was awarded the Sarnat Prize for her development of revolutionary approaches to treating mood disorders. She shares the prize with Dr. William Bunney. The prize was presented at IOM's annual meeting in Washington, DC. 

The Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health is presented annually by the Institute of Medicine (IOM). Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat established the award in 1992 out of a commitment to improving the science base and delivery of mental health services.
