Charlie Rose Brain Series on Schizophrenia Features Pittsburghers
As part of its ongoing Brain Series, the Charlie Rose Show recently aired a show focusing on schizophrenia that featured a panel including Danny Hurley, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1998, and David A. Lewis, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Hurley is a former Bioengineering graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh and a former member of the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition. He shared his story and insights into his illness, lending impetus to a conversation on the major schizophrenia research findings made by the panel, which also included Dr. Steven M. Paul (Weill Cornell Medical College), Dr. Cornelia Bargmann (Rockefeller University), Dr. Eric Kandel (Columbia University) and Dr. Judith L.
