2017 Clinician Educator Showcase

It's Showcase Time!

Registration is now open for the Sixth Annual Clinician Educator Showcase. This special 1/2-day event, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC, celebrates the many accomplishments of our talented clinician educators and staff, and features interactive plenary and breakout sessions on a wide variety of career development and clinical topics. The popular Speed Dat(a)ing session is back this year with presentations highlighting a selection of innovative projects led by our psychiatry residents. The Showcase also provides plenty of opportunities to network and reconnect with colleagues.

We are honored to have Christopher Gessner, President of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC, as our keynote speaker this year. Mr. Gessner's presentation will focus on The Business of Psychiatry.

This year's Showcase features breakout sessions on the following topics led by experts from the Department of Psychiatry and WPIC:

  • Bridging the Research to Practice Gaps in Community Mental Health
  • Teaching in a Multidisciplinary Work Environment
  • How to Design and Implement Clinical Value and Quality Improvement Projects
  • Therapeutic Evaluation of Conditional Lethality
  • Managing Unprofessional Behavior
  • Writing a Business Plan: How to Develop a Program

Faculty, clinicians, staff, residents, medical students, and psychology interns in the Department of Psychiatry, and our colleagues in the WPIC community are invited to attend. Lunch will be provided for all registrants and light refreshments will be served during the afternoon break. Registration will take place now through October 2, 2017.
