Jordan Karp, MD Selected for the
Hartford Change AGEnts Policy Institute

The Hartford Foundation has selected Jordan Karp, MD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Anesthesiology, and Clinical and Translational Science, for participation in the Foundation's Change AGEnts Policy Institute.

Hartford Change AGEnts Action Awards are one-year grants that are available to interprofessional teams for the purpose of achieving meaningful change to practice or policy that will improve the health and wellbeing of older adults and/or their families.  The goal of the program is to train leaders in geriatrics about how to drive policy outcomes that lead to improvements in health care and quality of life for older adults.  Dr. Karp's project will focus on loan repayment and forgiveness initiatives for those entering geriatric-specialty care training programs, such as geriatric psychiatry fellowships.

In addition to his extensive clinical duties and research activities, Dr. Karp has been actively engaged in teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows.  He serves as the Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship program at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at UPMC.  Dr. Karp's work with the Hartford Change AGEnts Policy Institute is well aligned with his commitment to medical education and his particular interest in geriatric psychiatry education.
