Academic Interests
Causation of severe psychiatric illnesses, including genetic and environmental factors; Genetic and environmental roots of quantitative cognitive variables, with a particular interest in the impact of neurotropic viruses; Developing cellular models based on human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to investigate the impact of herpes viruses; Use of neuronal cells derived from iPSCs to investigate the expression of selected copy number variants related to schizophrenia risk; Coordination of international research and training projects, including large-scale studies in the United States, India and Egypt.

Evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of persons with chronic, severe psychiatric disorders.
