Justin Schreiber, DO, MPH, FAAP was appointed the John F. McDermott Editor-in-Residence of the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (JAACAP) for the 2018-2019 term. JAACAP is the flagship journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). The assistant editor-in-residence position provides the opportunity for an early-career child and adolescent psychiatrist to join the JAACAP editorial team for two years. Dr. Schreiber, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics, will work closely with the editor-in-chief to acquire an intimate understanding of the journal’s editorial processes, including but not limited to manuscript preparation, editing, and peer review. He currently serves on the JAACAP Connect Editorial Board and the AAP News Editorial Advisory Board.

Dr. Schreiber was Co-Chief Resident of the Triple Board Residency Program at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) and recently completed a fellowship in community psychiatry. He has been active in the Community Oriented Resident Education (CORE) and the Academic Administrator Clinician Educator (AACE) programs. Dr. Schreiber oversees outpatient pediatrics, outpatient integrated child psychiatry, and behavioral health consults at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. He also is an attending psychiatrist on the Pediatric Behavioral Health Consult and Liaison Service and a psychiatrist for the Children’s Telephonic Psychiatric Consultation Services (TiPS). Dr. Schreiber’s interests include health policy and child advocacy. He currently is working on an “Equip for Life” program to provide sports equipment and parks information at well-child checks to explore the effect on obesity and activity in children.
