Ellen Frank, PhD Elected

Ellen Frank, PhD Elected to University of Pittsburgh
School of Medicine Committee

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine has elected Ellen Frank, PhD to the Executive Committee as a member of the Standing Committee for Tenured Faculty Promotions and Appointments (TFPA).  Dr. Frank will begin serving a three-year term on January 1, 2013.  The TFPA Committee reviews all actions for appointment and promotion to associate professor and professor with tenure and in the tenure stream, and conferral of tenure, and provides their recommendations to the School of Medicine?s Executive Committee for approval. 

Dr. Frank is Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology and an internationally recognized expert on mood disorders.  She serves as the Director of the Depression and Manic Depression Prevention Program at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC), and Co-Director of the Pittsburgh Bipolar Institute at the UPMC.  In addition to her extensive clinical, research and teaching activities, Dr. Frank has been an active member of numerous committees at the University, WPIC, and for professional societies and organizations throughout her career.
