Crystal White Selected
to Present Educator Award Lecture at AAP Annual Meeting
Crystal White, MD, a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellow, was honored by the Association for Academic Psychiatry and was selected to present the 2012 Educator Award Lecture, along with fellow honoree, Andrew Muzyk, PharmD at Duke University, at the organization’s annual meeting, which took place in Nashville, Tennessee October 10-13, 2012. This award, established in 1988, is given to either an outstanding psychiatric educator, or an outstanding psychiatric educational project or program, in recognition of excellence in psychiatric education with significant impact. The award acknowledges innovative and exemplary psychiatric educators and/or educational programs—at the medical school, residency and faculty development levels, as well as those people and programs involved in educating non-psychiatrists and/or the general public about psychiatry.
Dr. White presented on the topic of “A One Year Psychopharmacology Course for Upper Level Psychiatry Residents Utilizing Active-learning Education Exercises and a Resident-as-Teacher Model.” She is a fifth year resident in the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) Residency Training Program and plans on pursuing a career as a Clinician Educator following graduation. Congratulations to Dr. White on being selected for this honor.
