The development of effective vaccines for the prevention of common cancers will reduce the public health burden of these diseases only to the extent that at risk individuals are willing to be vaccinated in large numbers. Therefore in addition to investigating biological factors that may increase the effectiveness of cancer vaccines, it is also critical to investigate the psychosocial and behavioral factors that contribute to the willingness of at-risk individuals to receive such vaccinations and to develop interventions to address concerns about vaccination. The results of this pilot study focused on such factors in individuals with a history of advanced adenomas, enrolled in a phase I/II trial adjuvant vaccine trial.

The Hillman Cancer Center Research Pavilion 2nd floor Conference Room is located on the second floor of the Hillman Cancer Center, 5117 Centre Ave, Shadyside. After entering the building, please let the guard (past the information desk on the right) know that you are attending the seminar so he can admit you to the Research Pavilion. Take the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor; the conference room is to the left upon exiting the elevators and directly forward upon reaching the stairway landing.  Parking is available in the garage at the UPMC Cancer Pavilion across the street from the Hillman Cancer Center (~$6 cash/credit for 1-2 hours). There are also parking meters along Centre Avenue, Cypress Street, and Baum Boulevard in the blocks surrounding the Cancer Center. The 71A & 71C both travel from Oakland and stop at Cypress Street just beyond the Cancer Center entrance.

Please contact Susan Sharp (sharps@upmc.edu) if you plan to attend, need directions, or need more information.
